GREEN INTERIOR DESIGN—THE NUTS AND BOLTS

Instructor: Kirsten Flynn ( kir@sustainablehome.com ), ( www.sustainablehome.com )

You deserve to have a beautiful home that makes you happy each time you walk in, but you can also make it healthier for you and the environment. It is not hard to find products that are lovely, support clean indoor air, and are ecologically sound. You will learn the environmental concerns with common interior materials, the right questions to ask when buying finishes or furniture, and energy efficient upgrades that anyone can install. Interior design is really fun, and enhances our lives, but information is essential to making good purchases. You will leave this class understanding the basics of green building and materials selection, and how to apply them to your interiors. The instructor, Kirsten Flynn, owns the design firm Sustainable Home and specializes in environmentally responsible interiors. She has taught locally, and recently designed the interiors for a totally solar house for the Solar Decathlon.

Instructor: Linda Lenore ( llenore@ix.netcom.com ), ( www.LindaLenore.com )

Do you want a more welcoming and nurturing home? Wish you had a garden that functioned well and was beautiful? Do you desire a form in which to express your true nature? Our homes and gardens can be more than just a place to gather “stuff” and live by habit. Come discover techniques that Linda Lenore has been invited to share on national television morning talk shows. Many cultures understand, and have established, principles to create “hearth”—the essential qualities for a house to become a “home.” Whether it’s the kitchen, fireplace, outside barbeque, or warm feeling within your dwelling, the positioning and material used are only part of the equation to achieve this desired outcome. You’ll learn design techniques to make your home feel wonderful, reduce stress, and allow your creativity to flourish. Materials fee of $5 payable to instructor.
