COMPUTER APPLICATIONS: MAC AND PC

 

WINDOWS FILE MANAGEMENT (on Windows XP)

Prerequisites: Keyboard knowledge and beginning computer skills

Having trouble finding documents after saving them? After taking this class you will be able to name, save, and find files, create and organize folders, copy and move files and folders, rename or delete files and folders, and more. Students will have hands-on practice on lab PCs. Instructor provides handouts.

EMAIL AND WEB SURFING

Want to discover the wonderful World Wide Web? After taking this class, you will be able to use a few mouse clicks to access useful, interesting and informative sites on the Internet, research any topic, and use email to communicate with friends and family. Internet terminology and shortcuts are highlighted. Students will have hands-on practice on lab PCs. Instructor provides handouts.

EXCEL 2000 FOR WINDOWS: Beginning/Intermediate

Required: Intermediate PC/Windows

An introduction to the fundamentals of this popular spreadsheet application including data entry, formatting, printing, charting/graphs, functions and database. Increase your skills with this powerful tool for performing repetitive single and complex operations including summarizing, averaging and calculating percentages.

WORD 2007 (on Windows XP): Beginning

Prerequisites: Keyboard knowledge and beginning computer skills

Using the latest version of MS Word, master basic features of the most popular word processing program. After taking this class, you will be able to use the new ribbon (which replaces menus and toolbars) to help you create, save, open, format, and edit word processing documents. Use cut/copy/paste/drag-and-drop techniques, and more. Students will have hands-on practice on lab PCs. The required textbook (same book used for Microsoft Word 2007: Intermediate) is available for purchase at the Adult School office prior to class.

WORD 2007 (on Windows XP): Intermediate

Prerequisite: Beginning Microsoft Word or equivalent

Build on your beginning Microsoft Word skills using the latest version of MS Word. After taking this class, you will be able to use the new ribbon (which replaces menus and toolbars) to help you adjust margins, add page and line numbers, headers and footers, footnotes and endnotes, page borders, create envelopes and labels, work with tables and charts, create newspaper columns, and work with graphics. Students will have hands-on practice on lab PCs. The required textbook (same book used for Microsoft Word 2007: Beginning) is available for purchase at the Adult School office prior to class.

Prerequisites: Keyboard knowledge and basic computer skills

Using the latest version of Microsoft PowerPoint, become skilled at producing professional slide presentations. After taking this class you will be able to use the new ribbon (which replaces menus and toolbars) to help you create professional animated slide presentations. Use text, editing, and drawing tools, work with templates and color, and develop speaker's notes. Students will have hands-on practice on lab PCs. The required textbook is available for purchase at the Adult School office prior to class.

QUICKBOOKS PRO 2008

Required: Basic Windows PC skills

Learn QuickBooks Pro 2008 accounting software to manage your business or develop new job skills. Class covers basic accounting principles and practical bookkeeping methods with hands-on computer lab experience. Instruction includes invoicing, paying bills, managing customer information, creating reports, and customizing the program for your individual needs. A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor. Bring a bag lunch.
