ACRYLIC OR OIL PAINTING Beginning to Advanced

Discover your artistic talents with oil or acrylic paints as a beginning or continuing student. Study use of color, observation, composition, light and dark and traditional painting techniques. Supplies will be discussed at the first class meeting. A professional painter/sculptor, Ms. Shapona studied at the Renaissance School of Italy and teaches many aspects of 2-D/3-D visual arts.

WATERCOLOR DESIGN AND CREATIVITY: Intermediate/Advanced

Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of watercolor techniques.

Join master watercolorist Ferenc Besze for the opportunity to develop your skills with watercolor. Bring out your personal style with an emphasis on composition and design principles. Use your talents in a wide variety of subject matters such as landscapes, still life, portraits and cityscapes. Follow instructor or work on your own. Bring your own setup including a palette, brushes, paint and paper, and any reference materials you like to use.

SOLID BATH AND BODY PRODUCTS

How would you like to learn how to make some of your favorite products in a solid form? In this demonstration class you will learn how to make a solid version of a lotion stick/massage bar, body scrub and bath oil. The class will cover packaging and other topics. Students will take home an extensive handout with recipes, resources and more, a two ounce lotion stick, massage bar, body scrub and bath melts. A materials fee of $20 (cash) will be collected on the day of class. Lori Stoia enjoys doing crafts in her spare time. Her favorite crafts are making soap and other bath and body products.

FRENCH PICTURE FRAMING: THE BASICS

It’s new, it’s simple, and you will have wonderful custom picture frames without spending hundreds of dollars. How is it possible? You combine inexpensive tools and your creativity. During the 4-session class, you will learn unique and creative matting techniques used in france to frame any artwork. At the first session, we frame a 4 by 6 photograph in an 8 by 10 frame and after that any artwork as long as it is no bigger than 11 by 14 inches. The teacher will provide all the tools except wooden frames. A material fee of $55 is payable to the instructor.

Supplies:

  • A big heavy book (encyclopedia) or several books
  • 1 wooden frame 8 by 10
  • 3 or 4 photographs 4 by 6 inches
  • A mechanical pencil
  • An eraser
  • A glass cleaner
  • 2 old rags

KNITTING

Enjoy the creativity of knitting. After completing this class you will be able to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. You will also understand and knit some easy patterns, completing a small project. Continuing students will accomplish some new techniques and will receive help with their knitting projects. Bring 4-ply worsted yarn in a light color and size 8 bamboo or wooden needles about 9" long. Learn the basic techniques from an instructor with 40 years of experience!
