DreamCatchers
VOLUNTEER AS A TUTOR
DreamCatchers aims to promote educational equity, by enabling low-income students to succeed academically while inspiring a future generation of leaders to become personally committed to addressing issues in education. We achieve our goal by providing an effective educational intervention to low-income middle school students while cultivating a community of undergraduate learners and leaders in issues pertaining to education.
Throughout the one-and-a-half hour tutoring sessions, students work closely with personally matched tutors who cultivate strong mentoring relationships with the students throughout the school year. Program Director Carlos Guzman states, “DreamCatchers is unique to any other tutoring program because we strive to foster an environment where our students not only seek help with their homework, but also as a program where they can turn to for mentoring, for a community, and for empowerment.”
Palo Alto Adult School is proud to be a DreamCatchers community partner.
