A few years ago, I enrolled in black and white photography classes at Palo Alto Adult School. My instructor, Liz is a talented, patient teacher with a wealth of knowledge of camera and darkroom work. I found that I really enjoyed the darkroom. Tad Doxsee

Taking quality photographs has never been easier! Whether you’re just getting started, or you are looking forward to sharing pictures on the internet, we have a class for you. You can also develop black and white photos in our lab.

FUNDAMENTALS OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Decipher the buttons, dials and icons on your camera. Complete several photographic assignments where you will apply newly learned concepts like depth of field, rule of thirds, exposure compensation and contrast range. All camera types are included. Bring a camera and its instruction manual. No class January 16 and February 20.

Prerequisite: Prior black and white darkroom experience.

Enhance and sharpen your darkroom skills, and express and stretch your unique artistic vision by creating your own photographic projects. Reduce variables in printing and processing techniques, troubleshoot film and prints, use compositional tools and view prints critically yet artistically. Please bring negatives and photographic paper the first night. A materials list and standard darkroom chemicals will be provided. No class January 16 and February 20.
