Reading and WritingNabokov, O’Connor, Carver, Diaz, Lee—In this class we’ll discuss these master writers, write our own stories and learn the elements of fiction that make stories so compelling. Expand your understanding of literature, improve your writing skills and develop your familiarity with key elements of fiction. No class April 2.

ADVANCED POETRY WORKSHOP

Enjoy the power and beauty of finely crafted poems in a full day workshop. Present a poem you admire and explain what you have learned from that poet's technique, use writing prompts that move beyond immediate personal experience, and discuss poems that inform or articulate society’s concerns. Bring a lunch or money for nearby take-out restaurants. Afternoon can include sharing of drafts in progress. The instructor is an accomplished poet and literary consultant. Class size is limited to 14 students.
